The difference of Personal Coach vs
a Series of Golf Lessons

Let’s compare learning and playing golf to a computer.  All of the components such as the hard drive, display screen, and keyboard, are essential but without the right software, the machine is rendered useless!

Your clubs, equipment, and clothing are the hardware of the game and you certainly can’t play golf without them! However, your physical and mental skills are your golf software and has to be individually adapted to the level of performance that you desire.

During my 30+ years as a PGA Golf Professional, I have instructed thousands of golfers from beginners to touring professionals. I have learned that the best way to achieve the individual performance desired by my students is to frequently work with them to make sure they are on the right track.

To truly develop the physical and mental skills to learn and play the game, it takes more than just going to the practice range and hitting golf balls. It takes a “Personal Golf Coach” to take you out on the golf course to teach you shot making, supervise your practice under a watchful eye, and coming up with routines and drills to help you retain what you have learned, all involving shorter more frequent sessions.

The Complete Approach of a
 “Personal Golf Coach”

“Cause and Effect” of Swing to Ball Flight

Using trained observation and video equipment, the cause and effect of your own unique golf swing and equipment in relationship to the flight of the golf ball is explained and demonstrated by your coach. Every club in your bag is covered from the putter to the driver. Each student will receive a "Video Locker" on the John Reger, Jr., PGA On-Line Golf Academy in which a followup video of your golf lesson to help you retain what you have learned. This is powered by the V1 Digital Golf Coaching System.

Build Position & Motion through Swing Drills

The method in which to build a golf swing is accomplished through a variety of prescribed motions that can be easily remembered by the student and used both on the practice tee and on the golf course. Golf is a game that is best learned by feel and visualization and golf swing drills is a way to greatly enhance and speed up your improvement.

Practice the “Right Things Right” Sessions

Supervised practice to provide follow up on the previous coaching sessions is very helpful to retain what you have learned. This is performed both on the practice tee an on the golf course. You’ll get better results from practice by hitting 10 shots with the correct technique, supervised by your coach, than hitting 100 shots without full confidence that you are practicing the right things right!

How to Think About Your Golf Game

Your coach can help you develop mental techniques and strategies that are often overlooked with golf instructors. Just like a computer, your golf hardware won't work very well when there are problems with the software! Mental Strategies include: Learning How to Learn, Relaxation and Focus Tips, Tracking Your Progress, and How to be your own Coach!

Ask Your “On Call” Golf Advisor

In the age of smartphones, texts, emails, and social media, your coach is very accessible and available. You may have questions or want to engage in a discussion about your game, the equipment, rules, etiquette, tournaments, and even places to play! Quick and simple question and answer sessions between student and coach can go a long way to enhance improvement and enjoyment of the game of golf.
